CNN reporter Jim Acosta suggested that White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders warned him that if he asked President Donald Trump a question at a bill signing, he might not get into another White House pool spray:
Prior to this morment, @presssec issued a warning to me. She said if I asked a question of Trump at the bill signing “I can’t promise you will be allowed into a pool spray again.” Sorry Sarah.. we won’t be intimidated. https://t.co/RZgJpXpyEg

Acosta reportedly asked Trump what he meant when he tweeted that Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) “would do anything” for campaign contributions:
Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office “begging” for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!

It’s unclear what exactly Trump meant, but some, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), speculated he implied something sexual.
Tuesday’s incident came amid growing tension between journalists, especially Acosta, and the White House. On Monday, for example, Sanders and Acosta got into a heated exchange in which they quibbled over whether reporters purposefully misled the American people.
